::This hospital is an embarrassment to healthcare! How this hospital administration sleeps at night I have no idea? My elderly father had the unfortunate to be admitted to the degenerative institution this past Mother’s Day. As a 90 year old man, he was not fed for over 24 hours , not given even a blanket for the broken down recliner that he as subjected to lay in, no medication and was incontinent several times before a relative of a nearby patient was able to assist him. My mother had left to go home at that point. He was sent there through there original private hospital in which he normally attends. He was told by Andrews Medical Centre that they did not have the necessary medical equipment in which my father needed. My parents have lived abroad for over 50 years and chose to retire “back home”. So these are not people without the means to afford adequate health care .What kind of “home” can dehumanize their citizens as they do? What kind of “home” can pour economic resources into frivolous, cosmetic things , rather than vulnerable people, ie abused missing children, the elderly, . “Home” should be a safe place! In which Jamaica definitely is not!! My father is the nephew of the late Education Minister , Hon. Mr Edwin Allen. Who spearheaded Jamaican’s Education system in the 60’s , and is probably rolling in his grave to see what a deplorable nation Jamaica as come to.. I am writing this now as I’m on my way to the airport to retrieve my parents from “ home”

::Ward 6 UHWI.... the staff were kind, courteous, and worked within the limited resources they have. Hopelessness and helplessness reflected through their body language and attitude. Big DISGRACE... it's even very worse than KPH... see my KPH posting The management needs to do more investing in the building and the patient environment How can true healing take place when the environment is depressing, the curtains are torn, dirty, and UGLY?? The patient bathroom is an EMBARRASMENT... I spoke with a staff member, and I'm told that UHWI leadership is aware of the situations for a long time but only cares about money...and not poor people..."If it was over there, it's a different place. "....COME ON NOW UHWI I am sure none of the leadership memeber take their famies there. A service is a service, and the environment is key... just as how your houses are always clean... the hospital now becomes their temporary house until they are discharged... UHWI charges tons of $$$$, (now I wonder what and why they are charging), so why not let it reflect in the areas that the patients use for healing...... and not only Tony Thwaites wings. This needs higher involvement of every department in order to effect change.. ***I could not get more pics as i have to maintainnpatient privacy always.... The relevant media was contacted, and I hope there will be change for all. STOP JOKING, START WORKING, START CARING

::This is by far the worst hospital in Jamaica the doctors lack compassion and bunch a trainees who don’t know what the hell they are doing…who tie down a 80 year old man who is in pain begging for help. The action of these nurse and doctors are despicable

::This hospital forgets what its purpose is. The lack of compassion and kindness that they showed was unbelievable. The nurses( with the exception of a few nurses and nursing assistants) acts like they are all that but yet so unkind to the patient that they have an oath to take care of. They lack kindness and compassion to the patients. They forget that these patients are human who are at their lowest point. They forget that those patients in need, are someone’s family. Some not all of the doctors/nurses there lacks transparency. Their communication with family is quite lacking. They discharge patients before having a discussion with the family, which leaves no room for addressing concerns. Patient are discharged to the community without referrals and adequate instructions on follow-ups. Those issue contributes to the poor outcomes of severely ill patients that are discharged back into the community. Other people have complained but yet nothing gets done. The U.S travel advisory is absolutely correct. I’m hopeful that Kevin Allen CEO of The University hospital of the West Indies and the Minister of health Christopher Tufton will take a look at what’s happening and make some changes that will provide better outcomes for patients and people of Jamaica.

::I'm SO SICK OF THIS HOSPITAL acting as though y'all are better than any other hospital. I wouldn't as much as send my dog here if he was dying! It's the 2nd time I've lost a family at this place. HOW can you not give care to a STROKE victim when you KNOW the first 3hrs are critical? 9-10hrs and we're STILL waiting for care? Y'all need to stop playing God even if the patient has a 1% chance of survival. Your oath is to protect lives! You guys literally waited for my cousin to die, and watched him suffer. We are TIRED of those student nurses and doctors who do NOT have a clue as to what they're doing! In critical moments when care is needed the ACTUAL experienced doctors should be at the forefront. It's just because a regular Jamaican won't sue y'all that's why you guys have the audacity to behave like this! And to call a spouse LONG after their partner has died is ANOTHER form of WICKEDNESS! And only to find y'all took him up before the spouse shows up? 🤦🏽Like who do you think you are? There should be laws against things like this and you just wait and see, we will find a lawyer!
